Clarendon is the alternative to institutional living such as nursing homes and large care facilities. We offer a personal, caring touch and are the opposite of institutional living. Clarendon provides a warm, small, family environment in real houses in beautiful, residential Woodland Hills.
Who resides at Clarendon?
Clarendon residents include frail elderly, some with Parkinson’s or other physical disabilities, and seniors with dementia or Alzheimer’s. Each day is designed to help residents remain alert, active and happy.
How many houses are there and how many people live in each house?
Each of our three beautiful homes is designed for six residents, the legal number of residents allowed for small board and care homes in California.
Are private rooms available?
We offer both private and semi-private rooms for our residents.
How many caregivers are there?
Clarendon has one caregiver for every two residents, day and night. A house with six residents has a minimum of three caregivers 24 hours a day.
How are the caregivers trained?
Clarendon caregivers are trained to provide all forms of geriatric assistance including: assistance in bathing, dressing and grooming; dispensing medications and medical record keeping; providing emotional and mental support; recognizing emergencies and administering First Aid. Our caregivers sincerely enjoy working with seniors and help to create a warm, happy family in each of our homes.
When can family and friends visit?
Family and friends are welcome any time during the day. In the evenings, we request a phone call first so as not to disrupt the nighttime routine of our residents.
What happens when my father or mother needs to go to the doctor?
At Clarendon, we take our residents to and from their medical, dental, physical therapy and other health related appointments. We are responsible for all communication from health professionals in order to best care for your parent or loved one. Of course, if you wish to take your family member to his or her appointments, that is welcomed.
Do you ever take residents on a temporary basis?
We do. We provide respite care for those who need it.
How long can residents stay at Clarendon?
Our residents stay with us for the rest of their lives. We make sure they have proper medical care and medications. If needed, we offer hospice care.
